Pumpkin Scissors, I have no idea what the name means when I found out about this anime. After watching the first 4 episode and reading a bit about the anime on it’s official website, I finally gets what the title means.
The story began 3 years after the war has ended, as Lt. Alice Malvin takes command of the Imperial Army Intelligence Section III, that serve as an instrument of justice, protecting the people from power-mad nobles and soldiers turns bandit. The name Pumpkin Scissors according to Alice are the threat of corrupt people the group must face, who protect themselves with lies, power, money and many other layers like a pumpkin. Section III is the scissors that cuts through the layers and delivers justice to them.
I got Vol. 1 and 2 at the same time, and vol. 2 comes with a nice artbox for you to store the rest of the volumes. Shana agrees that Pumpkin Scissors is nice too ^^.

Randel.
Some screen cap from vol. 1. Nice looking menu with Alice and Randel picture. The menu reminds me of the DVD menu from Band of Brothers, a great TV series btw.
Lt. Alice Malvin, not your usual cute type of character, she a very determined woman who strongly believe in what she’s doing and don’t mind getting her hand dirty while doing it. It’s interesting to see what other obstacle she gonna face and how she’ll conquer them. Being a noble from a powerful family helps too ^^.
Corporal Randel Oland, he was in the 901-ATT, ATT stands for Anti-Tank-Trooper, unit during the war. A chance meeting in episode one with Alice, sees him joining Pumpkin Scissors in episode 2. He’s fearless in battle and can fight a tank with just his 13mm anti-tank gun. It seems he too believe in what Alice is trying to do, but there’s still a lot about him that’s not revealed yet.
The members of Pumpkin Scissors, the old guy is the Captain of the group, the guy with spec is Warrant Officer Martis, follow by Warrant Officer Oreldo. The other girl is Sergeant Major Lili Stecchin and the dog is Mercury who got demoted to Courier Private First Class in the first episode, after taking a bite at an officer’s head ^^.
The first few episodes are pretty much stand alone but I believe as the story progress, a larger force at work will probably be revealed. Glad that I decide to pick up the DVD when it was release, it was actually on my to watch list when it was first release in Japan but I some how totally forgotten about it together with tons of other anime that I had probably forgotten that I wanted to watch it. A case of too many animes and not enough time XD.

I LOVE Pumpkin Scissors…Randel is my favorite character ๐ I wish they’d make a figure of him xD; Well, any figure from that series. Even though I watched all of the anime I’m collecting the mangas still. Randel is possibly one of my favorite characters of all time…
I don’t really have a favourite yet, only watch vol. 1 now waiting for the rest of the dvd to release so that I can marathong it :D. They only made a figure of Alice, the one by GSC looks really nice. Didn’t read the manga though, the story is the same right ?
Ohhh, where can I find that figure? I am interested ๐ฎ The manga starts out the same, but it extends past the end of the anime.
you are in lucked HLJ still have her instock ๐ http://www.hlj.com/product/GSC96261
hmm will check out kinokuniya or Borders for the manga, ๐
I am sure Kinokuniya has it but I think that it’s only on #1 in English at least. Kinokuniya has all of the manga and an animation fanbook. At least mine does, but I think we aren’t in the same country even so…
yeah they do have it, went there during lunch just now. Seems like the manga release for Pumpkin Scissors is quite slow, I think I’ll finish watching the anime first before reading the manga ^^ nope we are not in the same country, I am from Malaysia ๐
Yeah, the English release just came out. The Japanese one is already up to Vol. 8, although it’s the type that is released with pretty long waits in between anyhow.
Kinda prefer to have at least a few volumes out before I get the manga ๐
I know what you mean…I can go through one in like 5 minutes myself. That’s on reason I only buy the Japanese ones, it’s a bit more time consuming to read it and understand it.
